Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect?

You are coming to therapy to make space for yourself. Together we will explore the issues that matter most in your life and try to come to understand their impact on you. You are encouraged to lead the discussions by speaking your thoughts and feelings about yourself, the people in your life and even your therapist as openly as you can.

In today’s busy world it can be a challenge to take pause and consider why you think and act as you do. Self-reflection helps you to know who you are more deeply. It can be a revelation to discover that you have motivations, conflicts and emotional patterns that are hidden from you. When we discover these together you may be able to respond to life’s challenges with greater freedom of choice.

I specialise in open-ended work because getting to know yourself takes time.  Everyone is different and we can discuss your expectations and what timing feels right for you in the Assessment Consultation.  If you have a particular issue that you would like to work on, I offer short-term therapy for 12 sessions.   Although you are free to leave therapy at any time, working towards an end is considered an important part of the experience and I would ask you to give one month’s notice.

I will send you an invoice at the end of the month for payment by BACS transfer.

I keep your session time for you every week and no one else will be able to use that time.  It can be reassuring to know that this is space is consistently available for you.  If you do need to reschedule please give 24 hours notice and I will offer you an alternate time.  If you are unable to attend the alternate time you will be charged for the session.  Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged, save for exceptional circumstances.
